ASMUCAFE, A COOPERATIVE FOR WOMEN PRODUCERS ASMUCAFE is an organization of farmers and landowners from El Tambo, a municipality in Cauca. The mission of the women as an association is to improve the quality of life of their families through coffee cultivation and to contribute positively to their community by working together and sharing resources, knowledge and support. AN UNUSUAL PROCESS Coffee from the cooperative undergoes a somewhat unusual treatment: the cherries are left in the loading hoppers for 14 hours before being pulped in the afternoon and evening. The beans are then placed in open fermentation tanks for 10 hours, before being washed and dried in the sun. |
